How times flies….

Well I am nearly complete with my review of PHP 5 e-commerce Development by Michael Peacock. I was so engaged by the book, I forgot to post updates of my progress here on the blog. I am currently having a second set of eyes critique my work so I do not look totally incompetent writing English. It should be posted on my main site, under book reviews, some time today.

Phase one…

Well, I received my book from Packt sooner than expected. The pace of the book caught me off guard as I thought it would be another chapter before I hit code. More to follow as I get deeper and deeper into taking on eBay!

Upcoming book review

Here in the next few weeks I’ll be reviewing PHP 5 E-commerce Development by Michael Peacock via Packt Publishing. You can view my main page for the review here. For those who would like a taste, a sample chapter is available in PDF format.

Alrighty then…

Been kind of interesting since I last posted. Played the lotto again… still nothing (but we hope that changes tonight!!), got a stomach virus or something similar so I’m still trying to enjoy life. Oh yeah, I think either the Scientologist or Operation Clambake is after me as in my few years that I’ve unofficially had an online presence (various covert sites) the shared host I’m on was target of a DDoS! This gave me a chance to mess with the wife as I told her she broke my site! I wonder what was going on? Maybe it was the Iranians as I did host a few anonymous proxy sites back in the day.

Picked up an interesting book, Pragmatic Thinking and Learning: Refactor Your Wetware and I like where it’s going, more specifically how some people external to our industry (programming) see us programmers as a replaceable commodity vice a hard to replace asset  (not a direct quote). I thought it was just the government sector that viewed contractors as a position and not a person. Granted some work you can swapped bodies and there is no performance hit (I’ve done those jobs :P ) but programming and application development is a different ball game. I’m almost half way through the book and perhaps I’ll do a review of it when I’m done.

Getting ready to move back to Florida so we’ll see if I resurface (mother has ADSL bleh).
